French Chess Liqueur Box, late 19th century

Jon's main chess page

A very unusual 19th Century French yew wood liqueur box, the sides with boxwood and cherry inlay as is the top together with burr walnut panels and a chess board with cherry and holly squares, opening the top reveals six compartments, but instead of finding the usual six gilt decorated liqueur bottles, you only have four as the two centre compartments have lids, underneath which are stored the chess pieces, and this appears to be original.
