Jon's main chess page

A "Reynard the Fox" iron chess set, after the illustrations by Wiilhem Von Kaulbach based on Goethe, late 19th century, the chessmen raised on petal shape bases, one side gilt, kings as Reynard, bishops as Isengrim the wolf, knights as Lampe the Hare, eagle foundry stamp, KAC 31906 (which indicates Russian manufacture), in a wooden box with a sliding lid (2), the king 9cm high, the pawn 4cm high.

Further information from another collector: the stamp KAC 31906, means that the chess set is Russian, from the Kasly factory (Ural), year 1906.
