Jon's main chess page

An Indian bone and horn chess set with silver applications. Height of king 8.4 cm (approx.3.2"), diameter of base 2.5 cm (approx 1 "). This set is unusual because the four knights are horses' heads reflecting the influence of British or possibly even the more specific Staunton pattern. The textile board has alternate coloured squares and a silver thread border. From Bundi, late 19th or early 20th century.
