Merrifield Set with Stamped Box - circa 1825

I am both fortunate and appreciative to acquire this classic Merrifield ivory set from a fellow collector. The set came in its original box with George Merrifield's trade stamp. It can be accurately dated due to the address on the stamp -- 11 Great Turnstile. Merrifield was located there from 1819 to circa 1828, after which he moved approximately 30 feet to 13 Great Turnstile, until 1852, at which point he moved to 46 Southampton row. He died in early 1855.

In addition to the date range indicated by the address, his identification as a "Manufacturing Turner" further narrows down the date range to 1823-1828 for the label on the box.
