Jaques Club-Sized Wooden Set, early 1850's

An ebony and boxwood set with 4.4” tall kings having 2” diameter bases. This set is heavily weighted and felted. “Jaques London” stamped on the base rim of the white king. Bishops have a wide headpiece with a deep and wide miter and knights are in the Paulsen-style. Set is housed in its original large undivided and lined mahogany box with green trade paper label. Label is in an early style green, with a unique, typed registration number.
