A late-Victorian, Tournament-sized weighted Boxwood and Ebony Early Zukertort-style Staunton chess set, circa 1875, manufactured by Jaques of London. The King stands 3.5" tall with 1.75" diameter base. The White King is inscribed "Jaques London" on the rim of of the base. The chessmen are heavily weighted and the bases are covered in the original green Baize. The summits of the Kingside Rooks and Kingside Knights are incised with a King's crown to designate a Kingside piece.
